Department of Political Science and Sociology


Our Department offers a unique MA program in Political sciences and Social sciences. MA diploma is validated by the University of Helsinki (Finland). Upon successful completion of all MA level requirements, students continue their studies and research in the three-year graduate program in order to get a higher scholarly degree (Ph.D., or kandidat nauk). The Department is currently engaged in negotiations about the possibility to validate the Ph.D. degree as well. Students have an opportunity to study abroad.

The Department creates conditions for the development of a qualitatively new level of research in the sphere of political science and sociology in accordance with contemporary international requirements and standards. Program “Gender Studies” (MA level) is functioning within the frames of the Department.

Apart from the basic three-year academic program, the Department launched an educational program IMARS (International MA in Russian Studies) to teach foreign students who may not possess enough knowledge of the Russian language but are interested in Russian Studies.

Apart from staff members holding degrees from the leading universities of the world and having a large international scholarly experience, the Department constantly invites foreign specialists. Information about all public lectures is available on our news page or upon subscription (in Russian).
