This two-week school, based on the vast collections of the State Hermitage museum, will study the art patronage of the Romanovs from the early XVIII to the early XX centuries with the stress on the applied art collecting. The teaching will include alternating "Days In" with lectures and workshops in the Hermitage, and "Days Out" with visits to various Imperial residences in St. Petersburg and its suburbs.
The course offers unprecedented access to art treasures usually not available to the public as well as opportunities to discuss issues concerning a given collection with its museum curator.
Participants may use the Hermitage library and the University computer facilities.
