I would like to say I personally considered it a special privilege to spend
two weeks studying at the Hermitage. To be able to see and touch some of
the Treasures not accessible to the general public was a unique experience.
I liked the way the program was organized with lectures and workshops. Both
were valuable. Aleksei Leporc proved himself
to be an excellent lecturer with great knowledge, energy and enthusiasm.
There was never a moment not filled with genuine passion. The organization,
in terms of the logistics of lectures, bus, on-time scheduling was also
In conclusion I would like to say the course fulfilled and executed my expectations.
The high level of scholarship was deeply appreciated.

|I found the course very interesting and informative. The
information was detailed, but not too much - classes/lectures were just
long enough but not overly so! The structure of the "Days-IN" was perfect:
a lecture to start with workshops was ideal, please keep this! <…> Everyone
was very friendly and willing to help. No suggestions or concerns went unnoticed.
All the curators who were kind enough to open their workrooms to us were
informally friendly, generous and knowledgeable.<…>

entire program has been more than I could have hoped for. The level of expertise
and enthusiasm was great! <…>
In regard to the organization of the program, I now know enough about Russia
- to understand and appreciate the logistical problems that the University
faced, and can not imagine how you could have done anything any better.
Thanks to all of you - for one of the greatest experiences of my life! This
has been a very special treat, I will never forget it or any of you!
You are all now my Russian "family".

|The school met all of my expectations. The lectures were
prepared and were delivered in a manner which permitted a good understanding
of the subject matter. It made the program both informative as well as enjoyable.
The "Days-Out" were well organized and added greatly to bettering an understanding
of the subject matter which was presented in the lectures.
The workshops were very helpful as well. It was <…> interesting to see the
various objects at close range and get the personal insights of the various
This was my first visit to St.Petersburg and I must say that my visit has

|I am totally enthusiastic about this program.
I was quite satisfied with my accommodation at the hotel "Neva" and delighted
with the reasonable price. The meals were excellent, and I appreciated the
thoughtfulness of providing me with vegetarian meals, even though I had
not requested them.
You might suggest to future participants that they arrange to stay on after
the program for a few days. There is so much to see and enjoy in St.Petersburg.
I consider this experience as a resounding success.

|<…>The schedule was ambitious and required strength to contend
with it. It was a good thing to leave the evenings free.
I have enjoyed the school and grateful of having been here.
Historic Preservation Specialist, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC,
think this program has a lot of potential and I look forward to helping
in any way. It was a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of a major
museum. Thank you very much for a great two weeks in a beautiful city.

program met my expectations. <…> On balance, this was both an educational
and pleasurable experience and I feel I have a good grasp of the Hermitage
collection and the Romanovs as collectors.

|The program was exceptional. I will be forever grateful
generosity of those associated with organizing the program and the scholarship
of teachers. St. Petersburg is an extraordinary city of fantastic architecture
and the Hermitage has an unsurpassed collection of art. However, they came
to life through the thorough and often humorous lectures of
Roman Grigoryev and the curators of
the museum. <…>
It was a privilege to participate and I wholeheartedly recommend this program.
